Lesson 15 Confidently Share Your Plan
Confidence comes from courage. Offering help is one of the easiest things for us to do as human beings. Asking for help is one of the hardest and most vulnerable things we can do. The truth is asking for help works. A study was done where people acted like a lost tourist holding a map (well before the invention of Google Maps). In 90% of cases, when they asked, someone came to help. The truth is If you hold up a map 90% of people will come to help with directions.
Activity “Strengths develop best in response to another human being” Don Clifton. Now that we have a clear idea about your development objective who are 2-3 people you could share it with, refine it and ask for help? Could it be the people you interviewed for input in the activity in Lesson 4 of this course? Two questions you can ask them are
If you had a piece of advice for me on my development, what would it be?
Who else do you think it would be worth having this conversation with?
Optional Activity The good thing is confidence is contagious. One way to build confidence is to remind yourself of three great things happening for you right now. List three successes either personally or professionally. Write these three great things on a post it note, and put it on your keyboard or computer and/or write it in the notebook you use to remind yourself often.
