As per the diagram below, the sooner you course correct the easier it is (point easy). The longer you leave it, the harder it gets (point difficult). For example, someone who arrives 5 minutes late and you don’t say anything turns into never being on time.

The feedback questions are a tool that allows you to be specific when reviewing how someone is working. These questions are
What’s working? Therefore, do more. Creates a positive environment for the brain and therefore a sense of safety to be open to more information
Where are we getting stuck? To improve. Note stuck is not right or wrong/good or bad, it’s just stuck
What can we do differently? Helps them start to solve your problems for you. Two heads are better than one and co-creation creates ownership

When giving feedback we need to communicate it in a way that it can be heard. Some prefer a direct style; others prefer to come along side.
Activity Discover your own Communication Style by completing the profile. If you have not already, download the excel spreadsheet here and complete the Communication Styles tab. On Page 7 of your Boss to Coach Coaching Notes write down your preferred Communication Style.
