Road Science is part of Downer Group and makes New Zealand roads better by providing top-quality bitumen and road solutions.


Purpose 

  • After a team strengths workshop, the leadership team wanted to extend CliftonStrengths profiling to all staff

  • The profiling was aligned with their 2022 conference celebrating 10 years of the RoadScience business

  • The debrief workshop was a key session and required content that would appeal to a wide group from truck drivers, lab technicians, engineers, sales reps


Process 

  • An in-depth workshop for the leadership team of 8 to understand in detail, their CliftonStrengths profile and give them confidence to talk and lead the language across the team

  • Support the the wider team to complete their CliftonStrengths profiles and provide a comprehensive tool to reference and report on individual and team profiles and team leaders to understand their people well

  • A 3-hour keynote interactive workshop for an audience of 90-people as a foundation conference session

  • 1-1 coach for 8 emerging leaders to create individualised career development plans to show how to apply the CliftonStrengths profile


Outcome 

  • Wide and fast adoption of CliftonStrengths language across the business as part of “how we do things around here”

  • Supporting internal coach (guidance on the best way to get trained) to in turn support the business

  • Ongoing commitment to profile team members

  • Specific and individualised development plans created for high potential team members and the senior leadership team
